"THE WHALER" TOOTH SCRIMSHAWThis is a piece of bone (not sure what kind... maybe whale??) that has been carved to resemble a whale's tooth then handsomely scrimmed depicting a whaling ship and her dories on the hunt. If you look closely at the pointed end of the tooth you will note that another piece was cleverly laminated on to form the tooth design. The scrimshander "CP" signed and dated (1957) his work. This antique piece is very well done and exhibits extremely good detail.
